Equipment

  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Fork or Potato Masher
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small onion
  • 1-2 cloves garlic
  • 1 lime
  • 1 small tomato
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper
  • Cilantro

Instructions

  • Prepare the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  • Mash the Avocado: Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocado to your desired consistency—smooth or chunky!
  • Add the Vegetables: Finely chop the onion, garlic, and tomato (if using) and add them to the bowl.
  • Season the Guacamole: Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture, and add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Mix: Stir everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  • Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips or your favorite dish.

Notes

If you want your guacamole to stay fresh longer, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent air from reaching it. This will help prevent it from turning brown quickly. Alternatively, you can leave the avocado pit in the guacamole; it doesn’t stop browning but can help slow it down.
